Original Windsor Roll of Honor in front of Windsor Town Hall, Windsor, Connecticut about 1917

History and Location

In September of 1917 The Windsor Men’s Association began a Roll of Honor “book” which was made of wood in front of Windsor Town with a painted list of names of Windsor citizens who had responded to the patriotic call and were in service. Names were added as more men (and women) entered into the war effort. In 1920 it was replaced with a bronze tablet and originally hung inside of Town Hall. In the coming years it was mounted on a granite block and moved outside to the Windsor Town Green.

It is located in the center of  Windsor, Connecticut, on what is known as the north green, across the parking lot from a CVS Pharmacy at 323 Broad Street.
