The days are chock full here at RootsTech, but it adds up to really fun stuff!

Sessions

I attended three sessions Wednesday and would have done a third, but quite honestly, this girl’s head was swimming with all the information I was trying to take in.

In a recap, first, the fabulous Judy Russell talked to us about going to the courthouse for the first time. This is something I need to do because I know there are some paternal records waiting there for me to discover.  I learned transcription and translation tips and resources from Thomas MacEntee and my mind was blown when I learned there were pre-made census templates available in some of them. And finally I learned social media marketing that I can apply to my genealogy societies…and even my real- life job from Amy Johnson Crow.

I felt badly I had to leave Amy’s class early to be able to get to the keynote opening. The Ambassadors have a certain roped off area that we sit in and we received a message that they wanted us in our seats at 4pm.

Geneabloggers Tribe

There were plans for the Geneablogger Tribe to meet up at lunch time to chat, but honestly, it was really crowded and chaotic at that time and just four of us were able to meet up. That’s when this young guy found me and told me we were a match in the Ancestry button game. So we plowed our way through the crowd to claim our prizes. He picked a zip up sweatshirt and I picked an iPad keyboard.

The Opening Keynote

The Keynote welcome by Family Search CEO Steve Rockwood was emotional and heartfelt. The theme this year is “Connect. Belong” and Steve talked about when we connect with each other, we treat each other differently. He also talked about the importance of connecting and getting stories so that no one is ever forgotten.

Here are the highlights of my Wednesday!
